Pakistan batsmen have showed some resistance on Day-3 and are fighting hardly to avoid follow-on and also to decrease the lead of India as much as Possible. Pakistan were at 369/5 at the end of 3rd day’s play. Once again unbeaten Misabul & Akmal partnership is looking dangerous and they have already added 81 runs for the 6th wicket. The wicket was still good for batting on day-3 also except for some odd balls keeping very low. But the Luck didn’t favour India as there were nearly 6 to 8 close shouts of LBWs which were turned down by both umpires in which 3 were Plumbs. In the morning session both the pace bowlers didn’t bowl the correct length which was the most crucial in this pitch and Pak batsmen have capatilised on the lose balls bowled by Indian bowlers as there were more number of gaps to score as India tried to attack as they have scored a massive 1st innings score. Younis Khan has made a useful 80, while Butt also contributed with useful 68 runs. All the Indian bowlers have taken a wicket each including ganguly who took the wicket of Salman Butt.
India has given away 70 extras which is second highest in a test match conceeding extras. If they give 2 more extras then India would be the team which has given highest number of Extras in a test match. Dinesh Karthik, wicke keeper for this test had a very tough time today. His batting was disappointing but today his keeping was also in a bit low side in which he gave away 31 runs as byes. With these he became the first Indian Keeper to conceed highest number of byes in a test match. The most balls which went as byes were bowled by Ishant Sharma who stayed legside and some balls of Yuvi which didn’t bounce at all. The cracks are getting wide open and it will be intersting to watch how it will behave next two days and how well it will be utilised by Indian bowlers. Hence the morning session of 4th days play is very important. If India has to win the match then they need to take quick wickets in morning session with having a lead of atleast 150-200 runs and score quickly in second innings keeping a massive score ahead of Pak to chase. Let’s see how India progresses in final two days. For now, watch the Highlights of Day-3 :
